Irfan Arif represented one of four young defendants charged with murder and attempted murder following a fatal knife attack in which a second person was seriously wounded.

Led by Danny Moore KC, Irfan was instructed in the preparation and defence of the case, which involved complex issues arising from a multi-defendant prosecution.

Following a week of detailed negotiations with the prosecution, the murder allegation against Irfan’s client was ultimately reduced to manslaughter. The resolution followed careful consideration of the client’s individual role and the evidential case advanced against him.

The case reflects Irfan’s continuing practice in murder and serious violence, appearing both as junior alone and alongside leading King’s Counsel, while continuing his role as Managing Director of Chess Law Solicitors.
